Nightingale announces five new contract wins

MARKHAM, Ont. – Nightingale Informatix Corp., a provider of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and practice management solutions, announced five new agreements to provide its offerings to end-users. The value of the contracts totals approximately $850,000 in aggregate.

Agreements have been reached to supply solutions to Alberta’s Integrative Medical Institute of Canada Health Centres (IMI), as well as a health region in Saskatchewan and three Family Health Teams (FHT) in Ontario.

“These agreements build on our growing presence in the Ontario and Alberta markets and serve to reinforce our leadership position in the Canadian EMR market,” said Sam Chebib (pictured), President and CEO of Nightingale. “We are particularly pleased to announce our first region-wide implementation in Saskatchewan, and look forward to expanding our footprint throughout that province.

“Going forward, we will work to further increase our healthcare user base in Canada,” he continued. “We will also leverage the broad client base acquired in the recent purchase of VantageMed to roll out our EMR solutions in the U.S. and replicate our success in the Canadian market.”

IMI Health Centres
IMI Health Centres are non-profit integrative medicine education and research facilities that use a combination of conventional and alternative medical approaches to patient care. Under the terms of the agreement, Nightingale will license its healthcare software applications to IMI for its Calgary-based clinic, and will provide associated support, training and implementation services. Implementation is expected to be completed in the summer of 2007.

Saskatchewan Health Region
Saskatchewan is leveraging technology tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of healthcare services province-wide. Under the terms of this contract, Nightingale will license its healthcare software applications to a provincial healthcare region, and will provide associated support, training and implementation services.

Peterborough Ontario Family Health Team
The Peterborough FHT consists of 20 physicians and 14 Allied health providers. Under the terms of the agreement, Nightingale will license its healthcare software applications to 11 FHT clinics in Peterborough, and will provide associated support, training and implementation services. Implementation is expected to be completed by September 2007.

Peninsula Ontario Family Health Team
The Peninsula FHT consists of two sites with seven healthcare practitioners. Under the terms of the agreement, Nightingale will license its healthcare software applications and will provide associated support, training and implementation services. Implementation is expected to be completed by August 2007. Nightingale will also deploy an interoperability component, creating a direct interface between the two clinics’ EMR systems and the lab and diagnostic imaging systems at the seven hospitals in the Grey Bruce Health Services network. Similar to what Nightingale has previously deployed in Nova Scotia and other areas, this functionality enables the hospital to directly transmit lab results and diagnostic images electronically to Peninsula’s healthcare practitioners, facilitating the timely transfer of data and the elimination of paper flow.

Canes Ontario Family Health Team
The Canes FHT consists of two sites with more than 12 healthcare practitioners. Under the terms of the agreement, Nightingale will license its healthcare software applications and will provide associated support, training and implementation services. Implementation at the first site is expected to be completed in August 2007. The second site is scheduled to launch in the fall and will go live at that time. “The Canes FHT completed a very thorough review of EMR vendors and when we short-listed the companies against our selection criteria, Nightingale rose to the top,” said Gord Gunning, Executive Director of Canes FHT. “We involved our Lead Physician, a Nurse Consultant and our e-Health Specialist in the process, and we were all impressed by how comprehensive the software is and how easy it is to use. A key factor in our selection process was our site visits to Dr. Michelle Griever’s clinic in North York to see first-hand how Nightingale’s EMR software has transformed her busy practice. We look forward to the implementation of the software, and believe that it will set us on the right path to enhance our level of patient care and improve the communication and operational efficiency amongst our practitioners.”
