New CEO takes the helm at Momentum Healthware

WINNIPEG – Momentum Healthware, Inc., a developer of healthcare solutions in Canada and the United States, has announced that company president and CEO Charles ‘Chuck’ LaFleche (pictured at left) will assume the role of Founder and Chief Business Development Officer. LaFleche will focus on opening new markets in Canada for Momentum’s enterprise electronic health record and related applications.

Dan Malmstrom (pictured below) has been named President and Chief Executive Officer to guide Momentum through its next phase of expansion in North America. Malmstrom is a 25-year veteran of the technology industry, including 12 years with Great Plains Software.

Malmstrom held various executive positions during Great Plains’ rapid growth, its successful initial public offering, and the subsequent sale to Microsoft for $1.1 billion. Malmstrom also had a stellar sales career with IBM, evidenced by his National Rookie of the Year and Golden Circle Awards in the United States. Malmstrom has founded and sold several technology companies during his career.

Dennis Stewner has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. His distinct focus will be to prepare Momentum’s operations and delivery systems for scalability and client fulfillment. Prior to joining Momentum, Stewner spent several years at Assante Canada where he held various executive positions including VP of Finance, VP of Wealth Management and Director of Strategy and Planning. At Assante, Stewner gained significant experience planning and executing the integration of several operating companies during a period of rapid growth in the financial services industry.

For his part, Chuck LaFleche is regarded as a luminary in the Canadian healthcare informatics marketplace. He is a founding board member and Treasurer of the Canadian Health Information Technology Trade Association(CHITTA), sits on the board of the Standards Council of Canada, the Infoway Standards Advisory Council, and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) working groups that oversee standards in healthcare informatics.
