New president named for Cardinal Health Canada

DUBLIN, Ohio – Cardinal Health announced that Canada will be a important component to its overall strategy of expanding the market for its products and services outside the United States and named David H. Lees, PhD, president of Cardinal Health Canada.

Lees, whose appointment is effective immediately, will be responsible for leading Cardinal Health’s Canadian operations, as well as developing and implementing Cardinal Health’s growth strategy for Canada. He will report to Jeff Henderson, chief financial officer.

“Canada is one of the world’s largest healthcare markets and, therefore, vital to the goals we’ve outlined to grow the market for our products and services and serve healthcare customers worldwide,” said R. Kerry Clark, chief executive officer, Cardinal Health. “We are fortunate to have a leader in David, whose track record of success for growth is well-proven.”

Lees came to Cardinal Health with the acquisition of Source Medical, the leading distributor of medical and surgical supplies in Canada, where he has been president and chief executive officer for the past seven years. He will continue to be based at Cardinal Health offices in Mississauga, Ont.

He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in agriculture from Macdonald College, McGill University, and a doctorate in philosophy in food science from the University of Massachusetts. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Tim Hortons Inc.
