TELUS signs outsourcing deal with Hamilton Health Sciences

TELUS has signed a 15-year outsourcing agreement with Hamilton Health Sciences Corp. to manage and deliver the information technology (IT) components of its human resource services.

Valued at $137 million, the agreement will see TELUS implement a technology upgrade to Hamilton Health Sciences’ HR management system, as well as assume the day-to-day management and delivery of its HR services, including payroll, recruitment, compensation, occupational health and safety and benefits.

As part of the deal, 73 Hamilton Health Sciences employees will join TELUS.

Employee relations, labour relations consulting and advisory staff, along with strategic HR leadership staff will remain as employees of Hamilton Health Sciences.

The agreement will also see the establishment of a new TELUS Centre of Excellence in Ontario, enabling TELUS in cooperation with Hamilton Health Sciences to develop, test and evaluate innovative HR system solutions that will be marketed to other health sector and broader public sector clients.

Murray Martin (pictured at left), president and CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences, said, “This innovative partnership allows us to keep our focus on our core business, providing excellent patient and family-centred healthcare.
