Web-based booking system also updates WTIS

HAMILTON, Ont. – Novari Health and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton announced that the hospital has successfully gone live with Novari’s web-enabled Surgical Access with Smart Wait software system.

SJHH, a major Southern Ontario 650 bed hospital, is now using the system to electronically transmit paperless booking requests, including document attachments from the physician offices, to the OR, minor procedure, birthing, endoscopy and pre-admission clinics. The system will completely automate the opening, updating and closing of cases in the provincial wait time system (WTIS).

With the implementation of Novari SA, SJHH has the most advanced access to care solution in place in Canada. Originally developed inside Kingston General Hospital, Novari Surgical Access with Smart Wait is the only comprehensive web-enabled software solution combining list management in the physicians’ offices with automatic provincial wait times reporting, along with integration to the pre-admission clinic.

Novari SA integrates physician offices into the hospital systems, improving the selection, preparation and booking of patients.

The integration of this new software tool supports St. Joseph’s Healthcare’s on-going adoption of innovative e-health strategies. Specifically, the software has enhanced integration between physicians’ offices and the hospital’s surgical, minor procedure, birthing and endoscopy booking systems.

“This innovative solution will enhance our ability to deliver excellent and safe patient care through a streamlined booking process and increased integration between our hospital and physician offices.” said Gerardo Castaneda, CIO for the St. Joseph’s Healthcare System.

John Sinclair, Novari Health’s Vice President of Business Development, who was on hand for the system go-live, was impressed by the depth and skill set of the project team assembled by SJHH.

“The success of this implementation is due in no small part to the folks both at Novari and SJHH, who executed a textbook example of project management,” said Sinclair. “SJHH has taken a leadership role in improving access to care for its patients while bringing much benefit to the hospital and physicians.”
