Novari wins surgical waitlist, booking contract

KINGSTON, Ont. – Novari Health and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton announced that the web-based Novari Surgical Access with Smart Wait software system has been selected by St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, a Southern Ontario hospital with 650 beds. The system will manage and report wait times and electronically transmit booking requests to the operating room.

As part of the contract, Novari Health will develop interfaces with the hospital’s scheduling and OR information systems.

Originally developed inside of Kingston General Hospital, Novari Surgical Access with Smart Wait is said to be the only comprehensive web-based software solution combining list management in the surgeons’ offices with automatic provincial wait times reporting. Novari SA integrates surgical offices into the hospital systems, improving the selection, preparation and booking of patients.

The integration of this new software tool will support St. Joseph’s Healthcare’s on-going adoption of innovative e-health strategies. Specifically, it will allow enhanced integration between physicians’ offices and the hospital’s surgical booking system.

“This innovative solution will create a streamlined booking process and increase integration between our hospital and physician offices,” said Gerardo Castaneda, CIO St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

John Sinclair, Novari Health’s Vice President of Business Development said, “The detailed evaluation process SJHH followed and our ultimate success continues to validate that Novari Surgical Access with Smart Wait stands alone in the area of managing and reporting wait times and electronically connecting the surgical offices to the OR and Pre-Admission Clinic.

“It’s one thing to believe in your own innovative product’s benefits but it’s all together another when your solution is selected as the best overall fit by so many expert stakeholders. Our Surgical Access system is designed to help flatten and reduce surgical wait times while assisting in the allocation of scarce OR resources. Designed to be scalable, a single installation can be cost effectively leveraged as the surgical wait list, booking and provincial reporting tool for a single hospital or an entire health region.”

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) is a world renowned academic and research healthcare organization with over 650 beds, 4,200 employees, and affiliations with McMaster University and Mohawk College.
