St. Michael’s upgrades pneumatic tube
systems
TORONTO - St. Michael’s Hospital
announced it will expand and upgrade its pneumatic tube system using
technology and services from Baltimore-based Pevco, a leading provider
of pneumatic tube delivery systems to hospitals.
Under the agreement, Pevco will expand St. Michael’s system from 32 to
36 delivery stations; it will also supply technology enhancements
including Pevco Smart Path, Carrier Management System and V-Panel.
Pneumatic tube delivery systems transport pharmaceuticals, lab
specimens, blood products and small supplies throughout laboratories,
pharmacies, ERs, ORs, and patient care areas. Cost analyses show that
the 24/7 computer-controlled systems are not only safe, fast and easy to
use, said Pevco, but cost less over time than employee couriers and can
save a hospital over a million dollars per year.
“St. Michael’s Hospital is respected for their compassion, teaching
quality and commitment to provide the best patient care. Pevco is
equally dedicated to providing the best material delivery systems,” said
Fred Valerino, Jr., President of Pevco. “We look forward to providing
St. Michael’s with systems and support to help them deliver the
world-class patient care they are known for.”
In addition to four new delivery stations and Pevco’s system management
software, Pevco is upgrading St. Michael’s system with Pevco Smart Path
routing technology that increases transaction throughput by
intelligently distributing traffic throughout the system.
Pharmacy, laboratory and nursing professionals will benefit from newly
installed Pevco V-Panel station controls and their 20 shortcut address
keys, as well as advanced user features. Pevco is also integrating their
Carrier Management System that enables the storage of empty carriers in
holding bays within the system so they can be automatically sent to
hospital staff when needed.
“The Canadian healthcare system is among the best in the world,” said
Bill Powder, Pevco’s Sales Manager. “Pevco is looking forward to helping
St. Michael’s, as well as other hospitals throughout Canada improve how
they deliver pharmaceuticals, specimens and blood products.”
Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, Pevco is dedicated to providing
pneumatic tube systems designed specifically for the 24/7 demands of
hospitals. Pevco is now leveraging its more than 30 years of experience
and highly skilled workforce to expand into the Canadian healthcare
market so that all hospitals in North America can benefit from their
advanced systems, products and support.
