Canada recognizes Infonium as innovation leader

OTTAWA – Senator Wilbert Keon, on behalf of Industry Canada, presented Infonium Inc. with a certificate recognizing the company as a Canadian Innovation Leader.

In his remarks, Senator Keon praised Infonium, saying, “Products like Infonium’s Quanta reporting software have the potential to help manage large amounts of information coming from numerous places. It’s easy to see that information management technology has the potential to transform healthcare in Canada.”

He added, “Their innovative approach to production and their drive for quality products are only a few of the reasons why the Government of Canada is supporting this exciting and driven firm. ”

Senator Keon founded the University of Ottawa Heart Institute at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and acted as its CEO for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2004. He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1984 and appointed to the Senate in 1990. Later in his remarks Senator Keon added, “As someone who is intimately acquainted with the ins and outs of healthcare management, I know how important it is to have access to timely and accurate information.”

Infonium founder and CEO Jay Lawrence expressed, “I have the tremendous good fortune of combining my passion for information technology with my desire to improve the health of others. We build value for Canada by helping to optimize our healthcare system, by providing jobs and by exporting our technology.”

Created by the National Research Council (NRC), a Canadian Innovation Leader (CIL) Certificate recognizes small and medium sized enterprises that have successfully developed and applied innovative technologies linking scientific research to commercialization, jobs, and economic growth.
