eHealth offers expanded interoperability showcase

QUEBEC CITY – The eHealth 2009 conference, to be held in Quebec City, will feature an Interoperability Showcase on June 2 and 3. The eHealth Interoperability Showcase is a vendor neutral demonstration of eHealth applications using IHE profiles and pan-Canadian EHR Stable for Use Standards to exchange health information.

The demonstration will be conducted by multiple vendors whose applications represent systems found in a range of healthcare settings. This year’s demonstrators include:

• ABELSoft Corporation
• Agfa HealthCare
• American TeleCare, Inc.
• Canadian Institute for Health Information
• DeltaWare Systems Inc.
• EpicCare Systems Inc.
• GE Healthcare IT
• IBM Canada
• Initiate Systems
• Intelliware
• Practice Solutions Software Inc.
• Karos Health Inc.
• Microsoft Canada Co.
• iLink Systems
• Mohawk College
• NexJ Systems Inc.
• Orion Health
• Philips Healthcare
• SXC Health Solutions Corp.
• Tandberg
• Telus Health Solutions.

A real-world clinical story will be used to guide eHealth conference attendees through a tour of the systems – allowing them to see how clinical data is passed from one system to another, thereby improving patient care.

For its part, Philips Healthcare announced that it will demonstrate seamless sharing of diagnostic images and reports using XDS-I and Pan Canadian Standards. Philips will show the ability to handle third party PACS images and integrate these studies into the Patient Study Timeline.

The results of this integration will show how an “On call” radiologist at a Philips PACS site can receive an online urgent consultation request from a different vendors’ PACS system and view and report in their own native environment.

“This level of advanced integration will make the next generation of PACS replacement within the DI-r environment more seamless and improve the integrated workflow for the radiologist,” said Jeff Vachon, Director of Healthcare Informatics at Philips Canada.
