Nightingale selected by London-area doctors

MARKHAM, Ont. – Nightingale Informatix Corp., a provider of electronic medical record (EMR) software and related services, announced that it has been selected to provide its web-based Nightingale On Demand EMR solution to the three core urban Family Health Organizations (FHOs) in London, Ontario.

These clinics are associated with London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Healthcare in London, Ontario, along with several of their community family practice partners.

The majority of these clinics are part of the Thames Valley Family Health Team. Nightingale On Demand will support the automation of four ambulatory clinics providing electronic medical records, integrating labs, medications, patient scheduling and billing functions. It will be used by over 125 users, including physicians and other healthcare providers in these FHOs to provide care to tens of thousands of patients in the London area.

These organizations are closely affiliated with the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario and train over 80 residents each year.

“With Nightingale On Demand, we will train our upcoming doctors with state of the art technology and gain full interoperability with our FHO partners, benefiting patients as well as medical teams,” said Dr. Sonny Cejic, Medical Director, London Health Sciences Centre’s Byron Family Medical Centre and Associate Professor of Family Medicine at Western.

“An extensive selection process that evaluated 10 OntarioMD certified solutions allowed us to determine that Nightingale is the best solution to meet our complex needs, the most significant being the delivery of optimal patient care.”

The selection of Nightingale by these organizations demonstrates that the company continues to gain acceptance and recognition as a valuable partner to large-scale hospitals, leading healthcare institutions and particularly academic teaching centres as it expands its presence across Canada. These contracts are for a period of 36 months and target go-live is scheduled for spring 2009.

“Nightingale is proud to be a partner with this visionary group as they proactively seek to enhance the way healthcare is managed and delivered,” said Sam Chebib, President and CEO of Nightingale. “These wins further demonstrate that Nightingale On Demand is the solution of choice by physicians and academic teams across the country.”
