Podcast: eHealth leaders on EHR/EMR integration

VANCOUVER – The CanadianEMR web site has launched a series of podcasts that examine significant issues concerning the Electronic Health Record. Coordinated by CanadianEMR founder Dr. Alan Brookstone (pictured), a British Columbia-based physician and eHealth consultant, the podcasts centre around discussions with Canadian leaders in the field of eHealth.

The latest podcast weighs in on the convergence of the EHR and EMR. The EHR is typically considered the Hospital, Regional or Provincial level record, while the EMR is a physician specific tool used to record information in a doctor’s office.

Currently, there is a mismatch between systems, and the discussion focuses on the issues and challenges surrounding the general inability to electronically exchange information between systems.
